and the vaccine requirements for california students awaits the governor's signature. by that date is uncertain. it is thursday, september 5. >> let's get right to gianna, because were talking major delays on 80. >> the morning driver starting to get a little bit busier. we will see much bigger delays as you are way along the eastshore freeway. will check in with jackie. which bill evans and to give you an update. let's see what's happening on the freeway, all lanes complete the shutdown. this is the eastshore freeway at san pablo dam road. the big rig caught on fire at one point it was engulfed in flames. so there is a lot of mess to clean up. it was carrying live chickens. so we've seen police officers trying to wrangle up all of these chickens off the roadway. they are running around on the side of the roadway. it will take some time. caltrans crews called out of scene as well. in the meantime, avoid the eastshore freeway. you are back to well beyond hilltop at this point. san pablo avenue is a great alternate. richmond parkway as well.

but again, member, now that the morning commute is getting a bit busier, we will see more people on the surface streets also. so bart might be a good choice to try to avoid that mess. the drive from the 27 it's the go from highway 4 to the macarthur maze. we see delays at the bay bridge because of this also. so a lot of busy conditions on eastshore freeway. let's go to jackie and check in with the latest on the trouble spot. this is the eastshore freeway as you work your way near san pablo dam road where the accident is. >> the chp officer i spoke to minutes ago said in his 16 years, he's never seen anything quite like this. this is what it looks like after a big rig crashes and catches fire. and the big rig was caring about 1000 chickens. a lot of them perished in the accident, but a lot of them are still alive. right now, the main focus is chp

and animal control working together to try to save the chickens that are alive. that's what you are looking at. this happened about 3:30 this morning when the driver of the big rig crashed into the column of an overpass at the san pablo dam road exit. chp right now doesn't believe that drugs or alcohol were a factor. they will investigate this for quite a while. they will see if the driver was asleep. we don't know if that was the case. a white sedan was involved. the driver escaped with minor injuries. i want you to pan over if you can without getting too graphic, that is the cab of the big rig where the driver was. this driver escaped with only minor injuries. it is incredible, because there is not much in the big rig that remains. all of these cages are being kept here right now because chp and animal control are trying to save the chickens that are still alive. this process will be a lengthy clean of. they don't have an estimated time of reopening the freeway. i would listen to the workarounds and reroutes to get by the accident. what a mess.

they are staying on top of it for you. and i'm staying on top of it with the weather. a cooldown on the way beginning today through the next several days. onshore flow, the marine influence really kicks in for us meaning temperatures will drop down to below average starting today. here is a live look with the treasure island camera with clouds in the sky. and some cloud action. areas of fog even patchy drizzle along the coast this morning. all of us get the cloud cover as we kick off your thursday. temperatures running in the mid to upper 50s to low 60s at this hour. going to the day, looking at highs below average for san francisco as well as oakland. upper 60s in san francisco heading to the day and 73 in oakland. about two degrees cooler than average. anyone forecast in san jose as we go through the day. right around where we should be for this time of year. in concorde, 87, one degree warmer than average.

we will talk about the cooldown as we go through the rest of the week and into the weekend and the latest on hurricane dorian. crews are on the scene of a wildfire in riverside county. the fire began yesterday afternoon and it burnt nearly 1000 acres of grass and brush near marietta. there are no reports of injury so far. lightning is considered a likely cause. the last official update from cal fire showing just 5% containment time, but there were some encouraging signs last night. this right now is what the firefighters are dealing with. and you know the overnight crews are going to be out here cutting line and getting those containment numbers up. right now, it is a little bit cooler out here and the winds have really died down and humidity has come up. this is very favorable for firefighters. right now, the firefight is still underway. the flames really laying down for the night. the marietta unified valley school district has shut down all of its campuses today for safety reasons. one of the high schools is being used as a shelter for evacuees.

we are learning more this morning about the latest bay area victim just identified in the dive boat tragedy. spiral links based in campbell confirms one of the employees, julia crash in iowa was on board the boat. she worked at the campbell company for about six months and lived in berkeley. at least 11 of the victims were from the bay area and we learned to other identities yesterday. carrie mcloughlin and christian taxman, both work at brilliant, based in san francisco. federal investigators have been searching for clues near the site of the fire, so far they have met with victims families and interviewed crewmembers. five were tested for alcohol and the results were negative. >> 16 investigator from the national transportation safety board are expected to be on site for 7 to 10 days. stay with us for the latest develop its on-air and online at kpix.com. 6:05. taking a a live look from cape fear at north carolina hurricane dorian is bringing fierce wind and heavy flooding as it slowly inches up the

atlantic coast. here is a look at the conditions in charleston, south carolina just a little while ago. the storm was upgraded to a major category 3 hurricane last night. mandatory evacuations are in effect for over 1 million people living along the coast in virginia. and the carolinas. meanwhile, in the bahamas, rescue crews are frantically searching for anyone who might still be trapped in the wreckage. at least 20 people confirmed dead and the prime minister says he expects the number to rise. some islands were almost completely wiped away as dorian parked in the area for two straight days. a u.s. coast guard is helping rescue and evacuations. dorian is dangerously close

to the atlantic coast. any small change in the path could be devastating. you've been tracking it for days. >> the carolina coast right now not only dealing with tropical storm force winds and heavy rain and a strong storm surge, but severe under storms and tornadoes for the carolina coast this morning. i want to show you the radar of dorian. it has strengthened into a category 3 storm. check out the tornado reports along the carolina coast. that's due to dorian. we will be watching the storm as we go through the day. it will come even closer to the carolina coast later today as a category 2 storm. watching that with the strong storm surge of 7 to 8 feet along with high tide, not the best scenario. we could see about one foot of rain for the carolina coast and hurricane force wind later today. so the impact, we will really watch it for the next 24 hours for the carolina coast. the storm surge will lead to widespread flooding. dorian made make landfall for the north carolina coast later today and by tonight. but looking at that consensus of the cone of uncertainty right now just rushing the coast

>> in early ending to the commercial crab season in california has helped reduce whale entanglements this year. so far this year, there are 17 confirmed entanglements. last year, within the same period, 42 entanglements were reported. entanglement numbers hit records 3 years in a row peaking in 2016 with 71 cases off the west coast. who knew that chickens would be entangled just going on the road, but that's what's going on this morning. crazy. >> it is kind of odd to think jackie was speaking to one of the chp officers this morning saying they never saw anything like this on the roadways. we talk about this traffic alert that's been in effect since about 3:30 this morning where you can see them chasing the chickens down. it big rig jackknifed and ht re and it was carrying a load of live chickens. you got chp and animal control trying to wrangle all of the chickens and clean up the mess. plus the mess from the vehicle fire and another vehicle was

involved as well. a lot of activity happening here. this is the eastshore freeway, westbound 80 at san pablo dam road. try to avoid the area if you can. we are seeing some big delays along the east shore because of that. it will continue to keep you updated. jackie ward will be up in a few minutes and be live in if humans. the backup is pretty busy beyond hilltop at this point. the best bet is to use surface streets through their if you can or maybe wait a little bit before you hit the roadways this morning. san pablo avenue, as well as richmond parkway. those are the two main lines that paralleled the eastshore freeway. we will help you work around the delays around 80. 24 minutes from highway 4 to the macarthur maze. we haven't gotten an update from chp as to when the lanes will reopen. this could definitely continue through most of the morning commute. you will want to plan ahead for that. trouble spots, delays and business as usual on the ultimate pass, 39 minutes to a 5 to 680. the highway for ride, that's the antioch area over towards the eastshore freeway and don't forget, when you get on 80, you will see brake lights to the

area. they bridge meeting lights are on and you are back up almost to the maze and at this point, slightly slow and go speeds as you work your way off the eastshore freeway through berkeley. the upper deck not doing too bad. a live look. it looks like we lost that, but clear past the mess. and south 880, no crashes, that's good news, but drivetime is about 26 minutes from this peering down to 237. no delays to the limits to oakland. what a traffic mess. i'm glad you are staying on top of it for us. will show you high definition doppler. ivan shown you this in about several months, since about may. we've had a few showers and the north bay yesterday and tracking some activity just to the east of stockton. you can see some lightning strikes and to the north, up in siskiyou county dealing with several lightning strikes this morning. and firefighters are battling several wildfires come about 5 to 10 wildfires due to the lightning from these thunderstorms. so it is all the leftover monsoonal moisture. and as we go through the day, we should see the monsoonal

moisture leaving us on shore with the flow kicking in. here is a live look with the treasure island camera. and it is a cloudy start today with low cloud action this morning and also dealing with fog and drizzle along the coast. it is a cloudy start for all of us across the bay area. temperatures the mid to upper 50s to low 60s and the weather headlines, we are looking at amateurs that will fall below average starting today through the end of the work week and into the weekend. it will actually turn quite cool and breezy as we go through saturday and sunday. that's the low pressure system ushering in the marine influence. it is an active weather pattern in the pacific and another storm right behind it. and with that, we see temperatures seasonal if not below average as we go through the next several days due to the ocean breeze kicking in for us. on futurecast, taking you hour by hour, will have the skies clearing as we go through tomorrow morning, low clouds in the areas of fog along the coast and parts of the bay. temperatures a little cooler for friday, much cooler by saturday and sunday. and sunrise at 6:43 and sunset

at 7:33. daytime highs, we are looking at temperatures right around where we should be if not a little bit cooler than average. 82 in santa clara and 81 in san jose and very pleasant as we go through the day. looking at 90 in brentwood, upper 80s in antioch and mid 80s in walnut creek and danville and concorde and pleasant hill, low 80s in vallejo and upper 60s for you in san francisco and berkeley looking at low 70s and alameda and san leandro, oakland, low 80s in petaluma and upper 80s for cloverdale. here is the seven-day forecast in which you can expect the cooldown. if it's been too hot, we will cool down more friday and saturday and sunday. the weekend will be the coolest days out of the way, staying seasonal into next week. >> 6:20. more than two decades after valuable artwork was stolen from a number of california homes, more than 100 of the pieces have turned up. we will explain how they finally surfaced.

welcome back. we are monitoring this breaking traffic news as you work way out of san pablo this morning. a live look at the situation of an overturned big rig that caught fire. it was carrying live chickens on the truck. a lot of activity and a big mess to clean up as you go through. all lanes completely shut down on like a 80 right at san pablo dam road. we are seeing speeds dip down to three miles per hour and they are diverting traffic off the freeway. you can get right back on after that, but big delays, use the alternates instead. >> new this morning, huge cache of art stolen from los angeles area homes in the 1990s has just been found. more than 100 pieces were recovered including to picassos, a mirror and a picture and letter signed by the late president ronald reagan when he was governor of california.

investigators arrested two armenian nationals at the time of the thefts, but back then, most of the stolen property was never found until a local auction found the pieces and called police. >> we reached out to the getty museum, also to the auctions house and some experts, and at the time, one of the paintings that we had verified to be stolen, it was determined to be worth around $60,000. the problem now getting the art back to its rightful owners. la police set up a website to help get the process started. >> 11 more women are coming forward accusing world-renowned opera star placebo domingo of sexual harassment. his spokeswoman issuing a statement disputing the claims. the la opera where he serves as director has hired outside counsel to investigate. the time is 6:25. taking a live look from southern california is morning where the evacuations have been ordered as a wildfire burns out of control. we will take you to the scene for the very latest.

wrecked big rig. the southeast u.s. getting it with whipping winds and storm surge and hail as hurricane dorian moves north. we will show you what they are dealing with this morning. it is thursday, september 5. >> the time now is 6:30. we mentioned the accident on i- 80. let's get over to gianna to talk about what's going on. >> it is been out there for quite some time and happened almost 3 hours ago. it is a big mess as you work through san pablo this morning. this is westbound 80 right at san pablo dam road. a vehicle jackknifed and overturned, big rig, actually. another vehicle was involved. it caught fire and that's what's shutting things down. to make matters worse, they're transporting live chickens. so that is definitely causing a big problem as chp tries to wrangle up the chickens. there is a big mess that will take a while for everything to clear out of the roadway. in the meantime, you want to use the alternates for surface streets that parallel the freeway. your best that is san pablo

avenue and richmond parkway. those both parallel eastshore freeway, but as the morning commute progresses and heats up, you will see more cars on the roadway as well. if you are traveling out of most eastern parts of the bay, you might even try 680 down to 24 trying to get to the bay bridge. a big mess on the eastshore freeway. try to avoid it if you can. we got jackie ward live at the scene covering the story all morning long. >> this is actually an incredibly sad scene. about 1000 chickens were on board the big rig that crashed. and then caught on fire. right now, you can see the chp and animal control is working on getting the survivors out of here safely. there are quite a few that survived. we don't have exact numbers. only a rough estimation. a few hundred did survive, but the debris around here is just remarkable. so many feathers and debris from the truck, pieces of the truck engine. the driver of this big rig crashed into the overpass here

in the san pablo dam road exit. and a chunk of concrete came off of the overpass. it is safe to drive on now. but according to caltrans, they are checking it out. we spoke to a chp officer earlier was been on the job for 16 years. he says he has never seen anything like this. >> it struck the side of the concrete over crossing to the right. it swerved over into the position you see behind me. it was fully engulfed. it had live chickens that were lost in the roadway and some of the chickens were running all around arts of the freeway. and that is why we've had to shut this down. >> although we are walking around and on pieces of this th miraculously survived with only minor injuries. there was another white sedan involved in this crash. that driver also survived. great news, but this is just such a mess right now. and it is the reason why westbound 80 in san pablo

remains closed for an on estimated amount of time right now. we don't know when this will be back open, but we remain on scene as chp and animal control try to corral the surviving chickens. for now, we will go back to you. stay safe out there. we are starting off the day with clouds and fog and even patchy drizzle along the coast. it is a breezy start to the day as well. here's a live look with the treasure island camera, temperatures running in the mid to upper 50s to low 60s. as we take you through the day, we are looking at breezy conditions and cool along the coast in the mid 60s for the bay and upper 60s and low 70s. for inland locations, topping out in the mid to upper 80s to near 90 degrees with that sunshine. temperatures today a little bit cooler compared to yesterday. seasonal if not a little bit below average for this time of year. we will talk about the cool down as we go through the rest of the week into the weekend coming up. i met the live news desk taking a quick check on the

dow. the stock market is up this morning and that is after word that u.s. and china will resume trade talks. the tensions had really been weighing on the market. so now the dow is up 300. that trend expected to continue, but we will hear more in a few minutes coming up from jason brooks. and thank you. 6:34. crews are on the scene of a fast-moving wildfire that is prompting evacuations and school closures in riverside county. tina patel is near murietta with the latest. >> this brushfire continues to burn this morning. if i step out of the way, you can see on the hillside. the good news is that the winds have died down in the overnight hours and it doesn't look like the fire is growing or getting any closer to homes right now. it started yesterday afternoon as a thunderstorm popped up and lightning might have been the cause. and because the winds were gusting then, the fire soon got out of control.

we are told there hasn't been a fire in these canyons in 20 years. there was a lot of fuel to burn. more than 900 acres soon went up in flames, forcing evacuations of about 400 homes. about 1200 people affected. cal fire has aircraft declining overnight doing water drops on the of dozers and ground crews that have been trying to make headway on the fire while the conditions are favorable. but mandatory evacuations remain in place this morning. the crews are hoping that as the sun comes up, they will be able to get in the air and map the fire and have a better idea of what it is doing right now. but right now, they said safety is the number one concern which is why they are keeping the evacuation orders in place for now. right now, federal investigator's are working around the clock thomas searching for clues near the site of the boat fire tragedy. so far, they have met with victims families and interviewed crewmembers. five were tested for alcohol

and the results were negative. 16 investigators from the national transportation safety board are expected to be on site for 7 to 10 days. in the meantime, a former crewmember of the conception dive boat is speaking out about the tragedy. chris conley says the ship is extremely well equipped to handle fires. there are smoke detectors and a fire suppression system and several hoses. but connolly says there is another reason why he is sharing his story. he doesn't want the crew to be demonized. >> i've go by many dive boats all over the world. and i feel more confident being a passenger on that boat from the crew, knowing that they are very knowledgeable, safety is first and foremost. >> connolly says it's the fire was extinguished immediately, it would spread extremely quickly because the boat was made of wood. the coast guard says the boat was not required to have sprinklers. back in the bay area, spiral links mason campbell confirms one of the employees, julia crash and iowa's on board the

boat. she worked at the campbell company for about six months and lived in berkeley. 11 of the victims were from the bay area. we learned two other identities yesterday. carrie mclaughlin and kristin packed them, both worked in brilliant based in san francisco. hurricane doreen has regained strength becoming a category 3 storm. it is dangerously close to making landfall in the carolinas and southern virginia. forecasters fear that any westward deviation could be devastating. hurricane doreen is turning off the coast of the carolinas bringing strong wind and heavy rain. power lines and trees are down. emergency crews working in the area are dealing with pole fires, flooded roadways and power outages. they are assessing damages from a possible tornado that touched down in north myrtle beach and south carolina this morning. vehicles instructors have been damaged, and mandatory evacuations it into effect for more than 1 million residents in the carolinas.

three alert warning systems will be carried out in either a phone call or text to fouts in healdsburg, cloverdale, and geyserville. it is all in an effort for disaster preparedness. he will be underway from 10 am to just after 11:00 this morning. jury deliberations are set to resume in oakland today in the manslaughter case of two men connected with the ghost ship warehouse fire. this will be the fifth full day of deliberations since three jurors were dismissed for alleged misconduct and replaced by alternates. yesterday, the jury asked for parts of an oakland fire captain's testimony to be read back. derek almeida and max harris each phase 36 counts of involuntary manslaughter. one for each person killed in the 2016 fire. >> the time is 6:39. plans for a new restaurant in contra costa county sparked a huge fight, what has neighbors so upset? >> and a former stanford university student who was rape

there. it looks like we will see the closure for quite some time. use the alternates. we will have that in a few minutes. keeping a close eye on hurricane dorian and the carolina coast getting pounded with heavy rain and tropical storm force wind and a strong storm surge and dealing with thunderstorms and tornadoes along the carolina coast. we will move closer to the carolina coast, hurricane dorian is a category 3 storm. the woman known as emily doe in the brock turner case is no longer anonymous. her name is chanelle miller and she's ready to tell her story. miller will sit down with 60 minutes right before her memoir, no my name, is scheduled to be released. her words when she was just iee year after the assault. a state law was passed to make prison time mandatory for anyone convicted of sexually assaulting someone unconscious

or too intoxicated to consent. >> newspapers had my name, it was unconscious, intoxicated, woman. 10 syllables, and nothing more than that. >> the focus was consciously shifted from her and her suffering and this does re- center the focus. >> stanford professor michelle dauber led the successful recall of judge aaron persky after he sentenced turn at the just six months in jail in which he served only half. the u.s. and china are heading back to the bargaining table. plus some good news in the job market. >> joining us is jason brooks. >> there have been a lot of recession worries on wall street as of late, but if you look at the u.s. labor market, you wouldn't really see any sort of downturn on the way. employers keep adding more workers. adp says the private sector added 195,000 jobs in august. that is well above the expectations, and a big jump from july.

the labor department will deliver its august employment report on friday. economists are looking for a gain of 150,000 jobs and we saw a modest gain in job claims over the past week which remain close to a five decade low. the market is jumping higher for the second straight day getting a lot of help from renewed trade hopes. this is after the chinese congress ministry said there were talks this week over the phone between top negotiators on both sides and the talks will resume in washington in october. that is boosting the stock market in a big way. the dow is up almost 400 points now. the nasdaq getting 103 and the s&p 500 moving higher by 33 points. back to you. some folks in walnut creek are battling plans for a drive- through restaurant which they fear will cause major traffic problems. amy's best known for the frozen vegetarian dinners and grocery stores plans to open a drive- through eatery. a group called markey park

neighbors united would shot down plans for an in and out murder, berger said just a few years ago it would clog up traffic on second avenue. >> it doesn't really matter if it's double doubles or vegetarian burgers. it is a drive-through. >> at a meeting yesterday evening, amy's proposed an updated plan with modified drive-through lanes and some neighbors say that the changes are not enough. amy's hopes to open the walnut creek restaurant sometime next year. san francisco symphony's new season is underway. >> this is the 25th and final season for the beloved music director michael tilson thomas. the opening-night gala was held last night beginning with a dinner at city hall. in just two days, the san francisco symphony will help christen the brand-new chase center when it performs with metallica. and concertgoers on friday will get the first chance to taste the bay area's newest year, the doves golden ale.

the warriors teamed up with san francisco's magnolia brewing to create the drink. the can design is reminiscent of the old golden state jerseys from the 1990s. i will try that. >> tears to that. >> and what is not looking very cool these days or morning, all of the chickens on the road creating a traffic mess. it is a unique situation and it's been going on since just after 3:30 this morning. we will give you a live look at the scene. we are talking about the eastshore freeway right at san pablo dam road. you are looking at a lot of activity. this big rig was carrying, transporting a load of live chickens and it overturned and caught fire. they been wrangling the chickens in the roadway. you can see charred auto-parts. this is a massive cleanup happening. there is no word as yet when lanes will reopen. lot going through. jackie ward will have an update coming up in just minutes. she's been live at the scene

all morning. as far as the traffic goes, your backup will be on hilltop at this point. orleans shut down and use surface streets as the alternate. now that the morning commute is getting busier, things are bogging down just a bit on san pablo avenue as well as richmond parkway, still a much better choice than being stuck on the roadway. they are diverting traffic off the eastshore freeway at san pablo dam road. you do get back on pretty quickly, but it's a slow and go ride as you go through. 27 minutes is the drive time. hopefully people are avoiding the eastshore freeway in the meantime from highway 4 to the macarthur maze. west on 580, to a 5 to 680. a 37 minute drive time and highway before heading to the eastshore freeway taking the five minutes coming away from antioch. i want to take a look at 680 southbound. we've seen a lot of extra brake lights. possibly more busy than usual. a lot of people may be commuting towards the san francisco area out of the farther parts of the east bay and you could use 680 instead of the eastshore freeway and cut across east 24. you can see a slow ride over

there as well. metering lights are on and your backup well into the maze at this point. approaches starting to see some delays as well. and to the south bay, we got rake lights coming out of downtown san jose on the northbound side of 101 and a slow ride and we see delays along 280. let's get the forecast. definitely better news. i want to show you high definition doppler because it's been a while since i've shown you high definition doppler. we've had a few showers in the north bay yesterday, and now check out the showers as well as a couple of lightning strikes east of merced and stockton this morning. and also up to the north, siskiyou county dealing with several lightning strikes this morning. north of weaverville and aetna as well as what rica and firefighters are battling several wildfires up in siskiyou county, about 5 to 10 wildfires sparked by these lightning strikes. so this is all because of the leftover monsoonal moisture coming in from the desert southwest. back at home, here is a live look with the ocean beach with house camera. i wanted to show you this because we will get the ocean breeze as we go through the day today and over the next several days. that keeps us cooler and seasonal if not below average

for this time of year. temperatures running in low 60s the weather headlines, a cloudy start today for most of us this morning. and dealing with areas of fog and patchy drizzle along the coast and for parts of the bay as we go to the afternoon, temperatures falling to below average. starting today, that continues through the next several days. quite cool and breezy this weekend. here is the satellite and radar view all because of low pressure systems issuing in the low pressure system. this is bringing the ocean breeze and then we have another one right behind the. an active weather pattern in the pacific. going through the day, taking you hour by hour on futurecast, you can see the sky is clearing as we go through tomorrow morning, low clouds and areas of fog along the coast and parts of the bay and temperatures will be cooler friday and by the weekend with stronger onshore flow kicking in. daytime highs around where we should be if not a couple degrees cooler than average.

6:55, time for look at the top stories. >> hurricane doreen strengthened back to a category 3 storm and it is threatening georgia and the carolinas after leaving florida with heavy rain and some flooding. it is a different story in the bahamas. the devastation appears endless and this morning, relief is starting to come in. let's take a live look at cape fear, north carolina where you can see how strong the winds are getting. evacuations are underway and schools are closed in riverside county after a brush fire sparked by lightning took off. the fire has burned nearly 1000 acres so far near marietta. no reports of injuries. federal investigator's are working around the clock searching for clues near the site of a boat fire tragedy. so far they've met with victim families and interviewed five crewmembers. five were tested for alcohol and the results were negative. >> the white house pulling the plug on federal lightbulb

regulations. the required manufacturers to produce energy efficient versions of several common types of light bulbs. officials say the price of light bulbs would have almost tripled. >> this is the day the music died on a longtime bay area radio station k fog in san francisco. they will change the format at midnight. it will revert to airing a simulcast of knbr and all sports station. the station will pay tribute to the morning host dave mori. i'm jackie ward live on san pablo's part of i-80 on the san pablo dam road exit. hundreds of chickens are being removed from the freeway right now. to safety. contra costa county animal services is on scene. chp is helping out as well. this is the end result of a big rig that was carrying about 1000 chickens. it crashed and caught on fire. that is why all lanes on westbound i-80 by the san pablo dam road exit are closed right now. and chp still doesn't have a

time as to when this may be back open. you can see that this is quite an effort. hundreds of chickens did survive this crash. and right now they are being taken one by one out of the cage and into somewhere safe by animal services. we will remain on scene this morning is this process will be a lengthy one, and we will keep you posted on when this could reopen. back to you. let's check the roadways right now. traffic alert as you mentioned continues, westbound 80 at san pablo dam road. the lanes remain blocked. you will definitely want to use alternates and stick with surface streets. that's your best bet if you want to get around the mess. san pablo avenue, richmond parkway, we are seeing delays beyond hilltop even further than that at this point. a little slow and go coming away from highway 4. 31 minutes is the drive time. it looks like a lot of people

are kind of avoiding the area. that's good news. but we got a messy situation that will take some time to clear. richmond san rafael bridge, slowing go near the toll plaza, no crashes, just sluggish as you work your way through the area and the metering lights are on at the bay bridge with delays extending well into the maze. let's check out our treasure island camera. you can see the low clouds as we start off the day with onshore flow keeping us on the cooler side as we go through our day. we will have some clearing, 87 in concorde for a high as well as fairfield and livermore. pleasant conditions inland. 81 in san jose and 73 in oakland and 68 for san francisco. we will continue to cool down as we go through the rest of the work week and into the weekend. in fact, saturday and sunday, the coolest days of the week, they stay seasonal by monday and tuesday and wednesday of next week. if you wanted cooler weather, you've got it over the next several days. >> stay with kpix 5 all morning
